The St. Kitts & Nevis National Domino team has achieved a historic milestone by sharing the 2025 World Council of Domino Federation (WCDF) Championship with Antigua and Barbuda Wadadli Warriors, after both teams finished on 13 points.
The joint victory was influenced by the forfeiture of matches by two countries to St. Kitts & Nevis on the tournament’s final day, which allowed the team to catch up to Antigua and Barbuda in the standings. While the situation stirred debate, no tournament rules prevent such forfeitures, and no penalties were applied.
Carol-Faye Bynoe, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Domino Association (ABDA), explained the circumstances. “Coming into the finals, Antigua had won mixed pairs and female pairs competitions, taking us from nine points to 12. St. Kitts remained on nine points until two countries—Barbados and St. Lucia—forfeited matches to them, bringing them up to 13 points and resulting in the tie,” Bynoe said.
In light of the controversy, Bynoe noted that WCDF officials have pledged to review and revise tournament rules to prevent such occurrences in future competitions. “This has never happened before—two countries holding the title and forfeitures of this scale. The tournament committee referred it to the rules book, but nothing currently addresses it. It will be addressed going forward,” she added.
The win is the fourth consecutive WCDF Championship title for Antigua and Barbuda. The Wadadli Warriors first captured the World Domino Championship as hosts in 2016 and added titles in 2018 and 2023.
Barbados completed the tournament in third place with five points, rounding out the top three standings.
The championship concluded on Sunday at the John E. St. Luce Finance and Conference Center in Antigua.
