Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, departs the Federation today, 22nd September, to lead a high-level delegation to the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) in New York City. The mission reflects the Government’s strong commitment to multilateral cooperation and advancing the Sustainable Island State Agenda.
The Prime Minister will take part in UNGA80’s High-Level Week, a critical annual gathering where global leaders address urgent challenges. This year’s session is expected to focus on climate action, development financing, global security, and accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Accompanying Dr. Drew are senior officials including Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Economic Development, International Trade, Investment, Industry and Commerce, and Dr. Joyelle Clarke, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment, Climate Action, and Constituency Empowerment. The delegation will participate in a series of bilateral meetings, high-level dialogues, and engagements with development partners and multilateral institutions.
Dr. Drew is also scheduled to deliver St. Kitts and Nevis’ national statement before the General Assembly, where he will reaffirm the Federation’s positions on key global issues and share updates on national progress under the Sustainable Island State Agenda.
The Government’s participation at UNGA80 underscores its commitment to strengthening partnerships, advancing climate resilience, and ensuring that the voices of small island developing states remain central to the global agenda.
