St. Kitts and Nevis marked its 42nd Independence Anniversary on 19th September, 2025, under the theme “Perpetual Progress – A Sustainable Future in View: Independence 42.” The milestone was highlighted by Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew’s call for unity, resilience, and the recognition of national heroes, both past and present.
In his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Drew urged citizens to remain steadfast on the journey of perpetual progress, emphasising that nation-building requires sacrifice, unity, and long-term vision. “Let our refrain be simple and strong. We are one Federation, travelling the road of perpetual progress. We know where we have come from, we know where we are going, and together we will get there,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed that sustainability must remain central to the nation’s development. “Sustainability demands that we protect our land and waters, invest in renewable energy, nurture our people through healthcare and education, and ensure that opportunities reach every citizen. It is heroic work, not because it is easy, but because it is necessary, and because it requires prioritising the long-term good of the nation.”
As part of the Independence celebrations, 16 distinguished citizens were conferred with the Federation’s highest honours for their service and contributions across multiple sectors.
