Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, has joined world leaders in New York for the opening of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80). Leading a high-level delegation, Prime Minister Drew reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to advancing global diplomacy, climate resilience, and equity for small states.
Dr. Drew was accompanied by Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas; Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment, Dr. Joyelle Clarke; Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Naeemah Hazelle; and St. Kitts and Nevis’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Mutryce Williams. The delegation joined heads of state and government for the opening session, which featured addresses from UN Secretary-General António Guterres, General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock of Germany, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and United States President Donald Trump.
Participation in UNGA 80 forms part of St. Kitts and Nevis’ wider foreign policy agenda of strengthening partnerships, elevating the concerns of small island developing states, and accelerating progress under the Sustainable Island State Agenda.
Prime Minister Drew will deliver the Federation’s official National Statement during the General Debate on Saturday, 27th September, 2025. His address is expected to outline St. Kitts and Nevis’ stance on urgent global issues, including climate action, economic sustainability, and the pursuit of international fairness.
As the UN General Assembly continues to serve as the foremost stage for international diplomacy, St. Kitts and Nevis remains steadfast in its role of shaping dialogue for a safer, more equitable, and sustainable world.
