Community Book Donation Strengthens Sandy Point Primary School Library

A community-led book donation has boosted the library resources at Sandy Point Primary School, providing students with new reading materials and reinforcing the role of local partnerships in supporting education.

The donation, facilitated by Ambassador Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Douglas, was formally presented to the school on Monday, 23rd January, 2026. The books were donated by Edris Lewis, whose contribution was prompted after the school identified a need for additional library resources.

Initial contact was made by the school’s library assistant, Louise Caines, who highlighted gaps in available reading materials. Ambassador Douglas, a past student of Sandy Point Primary, assisted in coordinating the donation, ensuring that the school received a range of age-appropriate books to support literacy development.

The collection includes storybooks, reference materials, and educational texts spanning multiple subjects and reading levels. Teachers and students gathered to witness the handover, with school officials noting that the expanded collection will enhance classroom learning and independent reading.

Principal Sharine Woodley welcomed the donation, describing it as a meaningful contribution to the school’s learning environment and a reminder of the value of community involvement in education.

The initiative reflects growing collaboration between individuals and schools to strengthen educational outcomes, particularly in ensuring students have access to diverse and engaging reading materials.
