Dr. Denzil Douglas Advances Regional Cooperation Talks at Dubai Conference

Foreign Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, has reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to regional and global collaboration through participation in high-level discussions in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. His engagement formed part of the 10th International Cooperation Conference, held alongside the World Governments Summit from 4th to 5th February, 2026, marking a key moment in diplomacy.

The conference brought together international and regional stakeholders to focus on practical cooperation built around innovation, resilience and South-South partnerships. It provided a platform for countries and regional blocs to align priorities and explore coordinated approaches to shared development challenges.

Among the central areas of discussion were initiatives being advanced by the Association of Caribbean States, including efforts to modernise maritime transport and logistics through digital systems, coordinated regional responses to the sargassum phenomenon, and the rollout of the ACS Strategic Plan for the 2025 to 2035 period.

These discussions are particularly relevant for small island developing states, as the initiatives are designed to improve trade efficiency, strengthen environmental resilience and support sustainable economic growth across the Greater Caribbean. For St. Kitts and Nevis, the engagement provided an opportunity to contribute to shaping regional solutions while reinforcing the Federation’s role within multilateral frameworks.

Senior Minister Douglas was accompanied by Ambassador Justin Hawley of the Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Arab Emirates, along with Foreign Service Officer Ticoya Gilbert from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Government says the Federation’s presence at the conference reflects a continued focus on constructive international engagement, sustainable development and the strengthening of regional and global partnerships that deliver tangible benefits for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
