Police have imposed temporary drone restrictions over Frigate Bay during the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting as authorities heighten security for the regional summit.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has announced temporary restrictions on the use of drones during the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting, citing national security and public safety concerns.

According to a police statement, the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be prohibited within the airspace over Frigate Bay, including within a one-mile radius of any official venue hosting activities linked to the regional summit.

The restrictions take effect from 24th February, 2026 to 27th February, 2026 and apply to all operators – hobbyists, commercial users and media personnel – unless prior written authorisation has been granted by the relevant authorities.

Police further advised that the ban extends to the launching, operation and landing of drones from both public and private property within the restricted zones.

Law enforcement officers, working alongside regional and international security partners, will actively monitor the areas and enforce the measures throughout the conference period.

Members of the public are being urged to cooperate with the directive to help ensure the safe and successful staging of the CARICOM meeting in St. Kitts and Nevis.
