Three men are in Police custody in relation to an attempted robbery of Ram’s Supermarket, Charlestown, Nevis and the assault of the security guard stationed at the supermarket.
The men were were captured after Police pursued a a vehicle with four suspects, in the Brown Hill area, Nevis. In an attempt to evade Police, the driver of the vehicle crashed into a wall. There were four persons in the vehicle; three were captured and taken into custody while the fourth suspect fled the scene.
Earlier today (August 20) at around 2:30 p.m., five armed men entered the Ram’s Supermarket, in Charlestown. The assailants attacked the guard with an umbrella and then proceeded to demand money from the cashiers, according to the Police.
However, the assailants were unsuccessful in accessing the cash tills.
The assailants then fled the scene in a vehicle that was carjacked from a customer who was about to enter the supermarket. That vehicle was recovered by the Police in the Long Point area.
Investigations are ongoing in the matter.
Meanwhile, four males and one female are assisting Police with their investigations into armed robberies of Ram’s Supermarket Camps and Ram’s Supermarket Bird Rock, on August 12. As of press time, no one has been charged in connection with those robberies.
