Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKN SOURCE) — While on an official visit to Canada, Prime Minister and Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew visited the University of Health Network (UHN) in Toronto.
“UHN, renowned for its exceptional healthcare facilities and extensive research capabilities, boasts the largest hospital-based research program in Canada,” Prime Minister Dr. Drew stated in a Facebook post on Monday. “The institution is at the forefront of groundbreaking research in fields such as cardiology, transplantation, neurosciences, cancer, surgical innovation, infectious diseases, genomic medicine, and rehabilitation medicine.”
He noted that the visit demonstrates his commitment to securing prospects for sustained economic growth and innovation for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
University Health Network has grown to be one of the largest research and teaching hospital networks in Canada – pioneers in improving the lives of patients. Their long history of health professions education at Toronto General, Toronto Western, Princess Margaret and Toronto Rehab hospitals has consistently advanced the science of education.
Dr. Drew’s formal visit to Canada included a meeting with Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. The Prime Minister’s visit was planned for the St. Kitts and Nevis Pre-Independence Celebration Cultural Extravaganza on September 10, 2023.
