At 10:43am on 8th May, 2024 a moderate tremor rocked several north Caribbean islands.
According to data from the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC), the epicentre of the magnitude 5.2 earthquake was located at a latitude of 16.85N and longitude of 61.55W at a depth of 27 kilometres.
UWI SRC advised following the event that the initial information available was based on automatic readings and may be updated as further data becomes available.
The other impacted countries were Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat and Guadeloupe.
So far, none of the affected countries have reported injuries, deaths or infrastructural damage as a result of this morning’s earthquake.
