Trump Supporters Divided Over Epstein Files as MAGA Movement Faces Internal Tensions

A simmering divide is emerging within Donald Trump’s MAGA base as loyal supporters clash over the former president’s handling of the long-rumoured Jeffrey Epstein client list. The rift was evident on Wednesday in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, where Trump’s running mate JD Vance spoke to promote the administration’s recent legislative win—dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill.”

Despite the celebratory atmosphere, frustration over the so-called Epstein files was palpable among attendees. A nearby sign reading, “WHERE IS THE LIST???” captured the growing discontent among some MAGA faithful who believe Trump has failed to follow through on promises of exposing high-profile figures linked to the disgraced financier.

The U.S. Justice Department recently poured cold water on these expectations, stating there is no evidence of a “client list” hidden in government archives. The revelation has angered some supporters, with online calls for Trump to fire senior law enforcement figures including Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino.

“We put you in office, you ran on this platform. We didn’t ask for it. And now we want it. We demand it,” said Steven Taylor, a truck driver who attended the event. Taylor, like many others, expected accountability regarding Epstein’s alleged network of powerful associates. Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, sparking numerous conspiracy theories about his death and connections.

While the budget bill marks a significant policy achievement for the Trump administration, the backlash over Epstein threatens to overshadow its impact. The administration’s attempts to downplay the controversy have been met with mixed reactions. Trump took to Truth Social this week, denouncing the speculation as a “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” crafted by political opponents. “My past supporters have bought into this [expletive] hook, line, and sinker,” he wrote.

Despite the criticism, some Trump loyalists remain steadfast in their belief that the truth will eventually come out. “When he’s ready, he’ll let them out,” said Ed DeLucca, 72, reflecting a sentiment of trust that Trump is playing a long game. “It’s like the Avengers assembled,” he added, referring to the unity he believes is still required among Trump’s senior officials.

The Epstein issue, however, threatens to fracture the once-unshakeable MAGA coalition. As divisions deepen over how the administration should respond to mounting pressure, observers are watching to see whether Trump can reconcile the competing factions within his base or risk alienating supporters ahead of the 2024 election.
